Renovations

The building is currently being repaired utilising original materials such as lime mortars, plasters and paints and also restoring the beautiful random, pegged slate roof. Much of the original materials and layout are intact, most of the windows are original, although many were altered in the 1950's, before the building became listed, when glazing bars were removed. Where Tracy can, she painstakingly removes the more modern plasters, cement and paints to expose the original lime plaster and paint underneath, often resulting in an extraordinary mix of colours and textures making the walls into pieces of artwork.

All of the old features that are uncovered are left as they are and the property has not been modernised so there are a few quirky features such as sinks in the bedrooms of Plas-Y-Berllan.

We are currently renovating another building, Ty Canol, to be used as a holiday let to sleep 4, but as we do all we can with hand tools it is not a noisy renovation. Check back for updates on the progress and to see new features/obsticles as they arise, which we will be posting on this page as and when we can.

Any income we make from the holiday lets goes back into the building to restore it.
